Excerpt from the unedited Jon Stewart interview of Bill O'Reilly on last night's "The Daily Show"
  • JON STEWART: I think you and I are agreeing on principle, but maybe not degrees of which: do you think this past decade, this past 20 years, has been a good 20 years for the wealthy?
  • BILL O'REILLY: Yeah, I would say it's been a good 20 years for the wealthy, with the technological and things like that. Look -- I don't have any sympathy for the pinheads who were stealing money, and doing all the derivatives selling, and doing all the day trading. I don't like these people, all right? And I think there should be government watchdogs and set up rules where they can do this and you can't do that.
  • STEWART (interjecting): So you're a Democrat.
  • O'REILLY: On that, I am!

I tend to re-post some American pro-left, pro-Obama stuff here even though I’m a Canadian living in Toronto. Our country still gets labelled “socialist” south of the border, even though we’ve had a Conservative government for six years. I suppose what I’m doing is my way of saying there are people here who also support fairness and equality in government, a strong social safety net, fair taxation across the “classes” and just fair treatment of our fellow humans in general. We have our battles to fight here on those fronts, too. Don’t despair, and keep fighting the good fight.

“If asking a millionaire to pay the same tax rate as a plumber or a teacher makes me a class warrior, a warrior for the middle class, I will accept that; I’ll wear that as a badge of honor,” Mr. Obama said. “Because the only class warfare I’ve seen is the battle that’s been waged against the middle class in this country for a decade now.” —

It’s about damn time. Course, it’s a stump speech. But I suppose I’ll take it.

“Being born a woman is an awful tragedy… Yes, my consuming desire to mingle with road crews, sailors and soldiers, bar room regulars - to be a part of a scene, anonymous, listening, recording - all is spoiled by the fact that I am a girl, a female always in danger of assault and battery. My consuming interest in men and their lives is often misconstrued as a desire to seduce them, or as an invitation to intimacy. Yet, God, I want to talk to everybody I can as deeply as I can. I want to be able to sleep in an open field, to travel west, to walk freely at night…” —

“I’m not sure how, but if that device flops, then I am sure its Obama’s fault.” —

Heh. Audacious claims as to what Obama is at fault for is this blog’s bread and butter. Bring it on! I was out of half-and-half this morning. THANKS OBAMA!

Fuckin’ Obama left the door open, & now we have flies in the house. Can’t he do anything right?

“It’s really sad to know that girls are growing up wanting only to be skinny and beautiful because as a child everyone always told them how pretty they were, and it’s what’s fucking everything up. Can we please raise our children to be more than attractive? Stop complimenting them all the time and instead encourage them to talk about books and films and ideas. Young girls shouldn’t have to grow up being insecure because they don’t look like the pretty girls and feel inferior and want to lose weight and change everything about their appearance. They should grow up wanting to change the world and learn as much as possible. We also make this quite obvious to men as well, the pretty women are the ones to go after, the ones you want to hook up with. Women are more than a piece of ass. It should be normal to have a conversation with a woman without expecting her to fuck you just for listening. It should be safe for her to walk down the street without getting taken advantage of. I only want the best for our children and for us.” —Andrea (via creatingaquietmind)
